CHANDRASHEKAR
Chandrashekhar (born July 7, 1923) is a prolific Indian film actor working in the Bollywood film industry.
He has appeared in some 112 films since his 1954 in Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani. His first film as hero was Surang (1953) produced by V. Shantaram. In 1984, he appeared in Sharaabi. He also played the character Sumantra, Dasharatha's prime minister in Ramanand Sagar's TV Series Ramayana.
He also produced, directed and acted in his hit musical film Cha Cha Cha
(1964) with Helen as his leading lady. Cha Cha Cha is one of the films
featured in Avijit Ghosh's book, 40 Retakes: Bollywood Classics You May
Have Missed.
Chandrashekhar was also the leading man in Kali Topi Lal Rumal, Baradari, Street Singer, Rustem-e-Bughdaad (with Dara Singh) and in a negative role in Basant Bahar. He played character roles in Barsat Ki Ek Raat, Kati Patang, Shakti, Vardaan, Ajnabee etc.
Chandrashekhar retired from the industry in 2000 after appearing in Khauff.
Chandrashekhar's name and contribution to the Indian film industry is
carried forward by his son Ashok Shekhar, who is a known television
serial producer and also runs an events & celeb management company
and grandson Shakti Arora.
